Climbing SUGARLOAF MOUNTAIN

Sugarloaf (Pão de Açúcar) can be climbed on various sides, and routes range in difficulty from easy to hard. Even someone who has never climbed or is inexperienced can climb it with the help of a climbing guide and equipment. Experienced climbers can try Via dos Italianos or Coringa.

Climbing TO Christ the redeemer

Corcovado mountain is home of one of Rio’s classic routes: K2. This route is 150 meters long, and every pitch offers interesting and varied climbing from friction to knob face to lieback, all with a breathtaking view since the base is 500 meters above the city.

Climbing Morro da Babilônia (Babilonia Hill)

Babilonia has the most popular routes in Rio de Janeiro due to their easy access and easy to medium grades. Babilonia is a good choice if you are climbing for the first time in Rio or if you don’t have much time to spend climbing and want a short approach with an incredible view of Praia Vermelha and Sugarloaf Mountain.

Climbing Cantagalo

Cantagalo is wedged between Lagoa and Copacabana and it has a wall with very vertical pitches. With a short, 5 minute walk, Cantagalo is perfect for those who wish to try an almost vertical wall with a good view of Rio, or for those who would like to have a quick climb before work or at the end of the day.

Climbing in Tijuca National Park

There are impressive mountains in the Tijuca National Park. Pico da Tijuca (1.021m), Pedra da Gávea (842m) and Agulhinha da Gávea (610m) are the greatest symbols of these forests.
