Climbing SUGARLOAF MOUNTAIN
Sugarloaf (Pão de Açúcar) can be climbed on various sides, and routes range in difficulty from easy to hard. Even someone who has never climbed or is inexperienced can climb it with the help of a climbing guide and equipment. Experienced climbers can try Via dos Italianos or Coringa.
Climbing TO Christ the redeemer
Corcovado mountain is home of one of Rio’s classic routes: K2. This route is 150 meters long, and every pitch offers interesting and varied climbing from friction to knob face to lieback, all with a breathtaking view since the base is 500 meters above the city.
Climbing Babilonia Hill
Babilonia has the most popular routes in Rio de Janeiro due to their easy access and easy to medium grades. Babilonia is a good choice if you are climbing for the first time outdoor multi-pitch in Rio or if you don’t have much time to spend climbing and want a short approach with an incredible view of Praia Vermelha and Sugarloaf Mountain.
Cantagalo is wedged between Lagoa and Copacabana and it has a wall with very vertical pitches. With a short, 5 minute walk, Cantagalo is perfect for those who wish to try an almost vertical wall with a good view of Rio, or for those who would like to have a quick climb before work or at the end of the day.
Climbing GAVEA ROCK
There are impressive mountains in the Tijuca National Park. Pedra da Gávea (842m) is the greatest symbols of these mountains and forest.
Climbing GOD'S FINGER (DEDO DE DEUS)
More than 100 years after its first ascent, God’s Finger remains a great adventure and challenge. It is classic in every possible way: a beautiful formation, a compelling line, an intriguing first ascent history, and an awesome summit.
