CLIMBING CANTAGALO HILL

Climbing in Rio, Cantagalo Hill

Cantagalo is wedged between Lagoa and Copacabana. It is perfect for those who wish to try an almost vertical wall with an amazing view of Rio, or for those who would like to have a quick climb before work or at the end of the day. Two or three hours is enough time to climb and descend the wall.

Some of the routes are an excellent training and test for climbers thinking about climbing the Italian or Coringa Route on Sugarloaf or the K2 route on Corcovado.

The main mountains of Rio are visible from the top of the wall, including Dois Irmãos (Two Brothers), Pedra da Gávea (Gavea Rock), Pico da Tijuca, Corcovado, Cabritos and Sugarloaf. And the views of Rodrigo de Freitas Lake and Copacabana are breathtaking.
