CLIMBING BABILONIA HILL

Morro da Babilônia (Babilonia Hill), has the most popular climbing routes in Rio de Janeiro due to their easy access and easy to medium grades.

Babilonia is a good choice if you are climbing for the first time outdoor or a multi-pitch route. And for those who want to train for a more difficult route, like the Italian Route or the K2 route.

Altogether, there are 40 routes with grades ranging from 5.7 (4) to 5.10d (6b). Most of the routes involve face technical climbing, with some friction sections, and are bolted. There are also some dihedrals and cracks.

The wall is 150 meters tall and the longest routes reach 200 meters, with an average of four pitches. In three to five hours it is possible to finish a route and rappel.

Climbing Babilonia is quite enjoyable, and many climbers frequent the area. It’s worth checking out.
