Abaixo estarão as atualizações que tenhamos recebido de alguma das 50 vias clássicas citadas no livro. Aproveitamos e lhe convidamos a fazer comentários sobre qualquer uma delas. Você pode dar dicas, sugerir a graduação, comentar sobre a situação dos grampos, sobre a descida, nos informar sobre algum dado impreciso ou incorreto, enfim, o que você achar relevante para melhorarmos os croquis. Entre em contato conosco e dê sua opinião. Ela será útil para a próxima edição do livro.

Some of the updates we’ve been getting on the 50 classic routes described in the book are listed below. Please, feel free to send your impressions on any of them. You can send us beta, suggest a change of the grade, report on bolts conditions, talk about the rappel, let us know about any imprecision – well, anything we can use to improve the topos. Send us your opinions. They will certainly be useful in our next edition of the book.

VIA 5 – Tardes de Outono – Morro da Galheta (SC)
Recebemos de Jen Lee uma informação atualizada sobre o acesso à via Tardes de Outono. Segundo esta informação, de janeiro de 2023, a melhor trilha para acesso a base da via é a trilha das piscinas. A trilha Barra-Galheta, outra opção de acesso, está sendo menos frequentada e por isso encontra-se mais fechada. Ambas estão descritas no livro, página 57.
Outra informação relevante é que a P2 da Tardes de Outono possui os grampos bem afastados um do outro, sendo necessário levar uma(s) fita(s) longa(s) para montagem da parada. (17.01.2023)
We have received from Jen Lee updated information about the access to the Tardes de Outono route. According to this information, in the summer of 2023, the best trail to access the base of the route is the Piscinas Naturais (Swimming Holes) Trail. The Barra-Galheta trail, another access option, is being less frequented and therefore more difficult to follow. Both are described in the book, page 57.
Another relevant information is that the second belay station of the route has the p-bolts well apart from each other, making it necessary to take a long sling to make an anchor. (17.01.2023)
Via 16 – Passagem dos Olhos – Pedra da Gávea (RJ)
As quatro primeiras enfiadas desta via foram reformadas em 2021 – com a troca dos antigos grampos por chapeletas – e o trecho do cabo de aço foi completamente trocado em 2023, portanto esta via encontra-se agora novamente em condições de repetição. Trabalho realizado pelo clube que tem a curadoria da via, o CERJ, e pela FEEMERJ.
Após a reforma o croqui do livro na página 127 deve ser atualizado a partir da P4 como abaixo: (26.04.2023).
The first four pitches of this route were rebolted in 2021 (replacement of the old p-bolts for modern bolts) and the steel cable section was completely replaced in 2023, so this route is again in good conditions. The Rio de Janeiro climbing club (CERJ) and the federation (FEEMERJ) carried out this work.
After the renovation, the topo of the book on page 127 must be updated from P4 as below: (Apr 26, 2023)
VIA 21 – Paredão Zezão – Agulha Guarischi (RJ)
A reforma do Paredão Zezão, citada na 2ª edição do 50 vias clássicas, continuou após a publicação desta edição. Foram adicionadas paradas duplas para permitir o rapel com 1 corda de 60m. Estas paradas duplas para rapel não estão marcadas no croqui publicado, serão atualizadas na 3ª edição. Agora, portanto, para rapelar de dupla em dupla, basta ter uma única corda de 60m. (21.12.23)
The renovation of Paredão Zezão, mentioned in the 2nd edition of the book 50 classic routes, continued after the publication of this edition. Double stations have been added to allow rappelling with one 60m rope. These double rappel stations are not marked in the published topo, they will be updated in the 3rd edition. VIA 24 – VIA NORMAL DA AGULHA DO DIABO (RJ)
A reforma da Via Normal da Agulha do Diabo foi iniciada. Foram instaladas 2 paradas e 2 chapeletas intermediárias para possibilitar a segurança com corda no trecho do cabo de aço. Também foi duplicada a parada na base do lance do Cavalinho. O CEB, clube curador da via, com o apoio da FEEMERJ, está organizando a etapa de substituição do cabo de aço. Esta manutenção conta com o apoio do Fundo de Incentivo ao Manejo de Trilhas e Vias de Escalada (FIM-TE FEEMERJ). (12.09.23)
The maintenance of the Via Normal da Agulha do Diabo has begun. 2 belay stations and 2 intermediate bolts were installed on the steel cable section. The belay station at the base of Cavalinho’s move was also doubled. This route is under the curatorship of the Clube Excursionista Brasileiro (CEB). With the support of FEEMERJ, they are organizing the replacing of the steel cable. This maintenance is supported by the Fundo de Incentivo ao Manejo de Trilhas e Vias de Escalada (FIM-TE, FEEMERJ). VIA 30 – CLANDESTINO – SERRA DA CAMBOTA (MG)
Duas dicas para a via Clandestino. Primeira: complementando as informações da caminhada de aproximação, vale citar que a trilha está começando no início da subida que leva a área de camping. Segunda: próximo à última parada da Clandestino há um novo grampo, está próximo a uma pequena chaminé. Alguns tem preferido fazer a parada neste grampo. (12.09.23)
Two tips for the Clandestino route. First: complementing the information on the approach hike, it is worth mentioning that the trail starts at the beginning of the climb that leads to the camping area. Second: near the last belay station of Clandestino there is a new bolt, it is close to a small chimney. Some have preferred to stop at this bolt. (12.09.23)
VIA 44 – Via Sacra – Pedra da Boca (PB)
Os grampos da Via Sacra são de 3/8. Há um projeto de substituição deles. Assim que tivermos alguma notícia divulgaremos aqui. (10.11.2022)
The bolts at Via Sacra are 3/8, but there are plans to replace the bolts. As soon as we have any news, we will post them here. (Nov 10, 2022)
VIA 45 – Fratura de Têmpora – Pedra da Caveira (PB)
Na terceira enfiada da via Fratura de Têmpora um dos blocos desenhados no croqui do livro se soltou e caiu. As informações que temos até o momento indicam que as proteções móveis indicadas no croqui (Camalots .5 e .75) ainda continuam valendo já que estas fendas não foram afetadas pela queda do bloco abaixo. De qualquer forma vale escalar com atenção este lance. Outra atualização é que a última parada (P4) desta mesma via, agora é uma parada dupla. (07.04.2024)
On the third pitch of the route Fratura de Têmpora, one of the blocks drawn in the topo in the book came loose and fell. The information we have so far indicates that the cams indicated in the topo (Camalots .5 and .75) are still valid as these cracks were not affected by the fall of the block below. In any case, it’s worth climbing this section carefully. Another update is that the last belay station (P4) on this same route is now a double station. (Apr 07, 2024)
VIA 47 – Cavalo de Troia – Pedra de São Pedro (RN)
Agora há outras duas vias próximas a Cavalo de Troia. Escaladores buscando esta clássica tem errado de via. A dica é que a Cavalo de Troia é a via do meio. Fique atento a foto do livro que indica o início da via. Outra atualização é que deve-se adicionar um grampo ao croqui do livro, na quinta enfiada, ao lado esquerdo do buraco desenhado antes do lance de II grau. Ou seja, esta enfiada possui um grampo a mais do que o indicado no croqui. (07.04.2024)
Now there are two other routes close to Cavalo de Troia. Climbers looking for this classic have gone wrong. The tip is that the Cavalo de Troia route is between the other two. Pay attention to the photo in the book that indicates the beginning of the route. Another update is that a p-bolt must be added to the topo in the book, in the fifth pitch, to the left side of the hole drawn before the II degree section.
