One of the most famous and beautiful climbing routes of Rio de Janeiro is on Corcovado mountain: the K2 route, listed as one of the\u00a050 classic routes in Brazil<\/a>. Climbing in Rio is amazing and if you have the necessary experience, climbing to the feet of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado is a great experience.<\/span><\/p>

K2 route is 150 meters long, and every pitch offers interesting and varied climbing from friction to knob face to laybacking, all with a breathtaking view since the base of the route is 500 meters above the city. And it ends at the feet of the Christ the Redeemer statue, summit of Corcovado Mountain. You\u2019ll find out why climbing in Rio is so amazing!<\/p>

Our drone video will show you that this route is a must. Furthermore, Corcovado lies within the beautiful Tijuca National Park, one of the largest urban parks in the world and one of the remaining patches of Atlantic Forest in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>

The most difficult pitches are rated 5.9 (5\/5+) with few 5.10 (6a) moves. Therefore, it is important that you are able to comfortably climb 5.9\/5.10 (5\/6a) on rock.<\/p>

You will need about four to five hours to hike, enjoy the climbing, the view of Rio, Christ the Redeemer statue and walk down to the parking lot.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The K2 Route is a route for experienced rock climbers due to difficulty, length and exposure. One should not underestimate the grading or the length of the K2 Route, as Rio de Janeiro has a strong grading. Those who are not used to smearing on granite and multi-pitch could have difficulties, and it is better to be prepared to climb 5.10\/6a. If in doubt, you can choose an easier route on Sugarloaf<\/a>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
